Compatibility

These screws fit all clip-on Bahtinov mask variants from Johannes Scientific. Clip-on masks are the models that attach with adjustable arms tightened by hand and are sized by a millimeter range, such as 60-90 mm, 80-120 mm, or 100-160 mm, rather than by a single fixed diameter.

They are not used with threaded or magnetic filter-style masks, such as the Kase Bright Star Bahtinov filter, which screw onto the filter thread of a lens and use no clamping hardware.

Frequently asked questions

How many screws come in a pack?
Three.

Will these fit my Bahtinov mask?
If your mask clips on with adjustable arms and is sized by a millimeter range, yes. If it threads onto your lens or attaches magnetically, no.

Why do the screws have soft tips?
The soft tip grips your lens barrel or telescope tube firmly without scratching the finish, which matters when you are tightening a mask by feel in the dark.

Can I buy a single screw?
They are sold in packs of three so you have spares on hand for future nights out.

Just what I needed

These screws are just what I needed for my DIY Bahtinov masks. The parts screw together well and hold the mask in place. The only issue is the plastic tips are not tightly fitted to the screw and could fall out it you're not careful. A touch of glue to hold the soft tips onto the metal part should do the trick.
